Titles

A title is something you and your dog can strive to attain.

Titles can be gained by your dog in various different disciplines offered
within the umbrella of the Australian National Kennel Council. It involves
your dog and sometime you being assessed. This can be either in conformation or working disciplines, you are assessed by licensed judges within the various disciplines.

In the show ring if your dog gains 100 points it will be come a Champion.
(Ch.)  This is when your dog is judged on its conformation or in other words the way your dog looks.

Obedience on the other hand does not care what your dog looks like, your dog is judged on its working ability to carry out the exercises with you as per the rule book. You need to gain three qualifying scores at each level to
attain a title. Your dog can gain five titles in obedience as well as the
ultimate title which is that of Obedience Champion (OC).

The first title in obedience is called Community Companion Dog (CCD), the next one is Companion Dog (CD) followed by Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) then Utility Dog (UD) and finally Utility Dog Excellent (UDX).

Titles can also be gained from gaining wins at Retrieving Trial these being
Novice Retrieving Dog (NRD), Restricted Retrieving Dog (RRD) and then
Retrieving Trial Champion (R. Ch.)

Tracking is yet another discipline that your dog can attain titles doing.
These titles commence with Tracking Dog Title (TD) then progress to Tracking Dog Excellent (TDX) and then finally Tracking Champion (T. Ch.)

Agility and Jumping are areas that many titles can also be attained as well
commencing with Agility Dog Title (AD) and Jumping Dog Title (JD) through to Masters in each of these disciplines.
